Five Things #66

Every Wednesday I share five things I've liked and think you might like too. Here are this week’s Five Things…

  1. What a treasure trove! Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks have been digitised and made available only by the British Library.

  2. A pretty useful concept, understanding your Circle of Competence.

  3. An amazing collection of drone photos from National Geographic.

  4. I think I'm going to agree with Keith here, this is the best video ever.

  5. This week's musical is Ben Lukas Boysen & Sebastian Plano's soundtrack to the game Everything. The whole project is pretty incredible, click to learn more about the game or watch the trailer (it's worth watching!).

Five Things #65

Every Wednesday I share five things I've liked and think you might like too. Here are this week’s Five Things…

  1. A diver's worst nightmare. How he remained calm is beyond me!

  2. Albert Einstein's advice to his son on how to learn.

  3. There are some things that you just can't unsee. At least in this case they're pretty funny!

  4. If you are learning a foreign language (or want to), this is a great list that will help supercharge your learning. I'm putting as much of it into practice as I can as I continue my quest to learn German!

  5. This week's musical recommendation is Islands by The XX. I'd forgotten how good their first album is!

Five Things #64

Every Wednesday I share five things I've liked and think you might like too. Here are this week’s Five Things…

  1. An interesting discussion on how products (like Facebook and Twitter) are being engineered to be addictive, the relationship between novelty and familiarity in making “a hit”, and how we’re encouraged to binge watch TV shows.

  2. A cool video from the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows: Sonder, The Realisation That Everyone Has A Story.

  3. This list got me very excited, a treasure trove of great music: The 50 Best Ambient Albums of All Time.

  4. They were ghastly at the time, but to say they haven't aged well is quite the understatement: 13 "Changing Rooms" Designs That Really Haven't Aged That Well.

  5. This week’s musical recommendation is Grapevine Fires by Death Cab for Cutie, I really like that drum beat.

Five Things #63

Every Wednesday I share five things I've liked and think you might like too. Here are this week’s Five Things…

  1. One of my projects this year is learning to code. Learning anything from scratch is hard work, but it feels like I'm starting to make some progress. I've completed three projects in the last couple of weeks: a quote machine, a weather app and a Wikipedia viewer. I'll report back with my fourth project once I've made some progress! If you fancy learning to code, check out freeCodeCamp.

  2. Having opinions is easy, doing the work to justify holding them is less so: The Work Required To Have An Opinion.

  3. If you like birds (and high quality photography) you're going to like these: Birds Around the World in 31 Incredible Photos.

  4. I've been really enjoying the latest series of Dead Ringers. It seems whatever the state of our politics, it never ceases to be a great source of comedy.

  5. This week's musical recommendation is Moments Descend On My Windowpane by Rafael Anton Irisarri. If you like it, check out his album A Fragile Geography.

Five Things #62

Every Wednesday I share five things I've liked and think you might like too. Here are this week’s Five Things…

  1. If you get a chance, try to catch Edgar Wright's latest film Baby Driver while it's still in the cinemas. One of the best films I've seen in ages, plus the soundtrack is incredible!

  2. A Dizzying View of a Bicycle Graveyard in China.

  3. If, like me, you're prone to procrastination, this simple exercise might give you a kick start.

  4. This is a really great interview: Debbie Millman talks to the composer Nico Muhly for her podcast Design Matters. She's a fantastic interviewer and Nico is an equally fantastic interviewee.

  5.  This week's music recommendation is Split by Rauelsson. If you like it, check out his album Vora.
