Gold On The Ceiling - The Black Keys | Drum Transcription Notes
Update: This transcription was originally published on 2/6/20. It was updated on 26/5/21 to include a drum legend.
The grooves throughout this song are all variations on a blues-rock shuffle.
You’ll see this symbol at the top of the score:
This means that every pair of quavers/eighth notes should be treated as a pair of swung quavers/eighth notes. Where you’d usually count “1 + 2 +”, you actually count “1 (trip) let 2 (trip) let”, the “trip” being a rest.
I’ve chosen to use a crotchet/ quarter note ride line for all of the grooves. It’s hard to hear exactly what he’s playing on the hi-hats so you could to play swung quavers/eighths instead — I’ll leave that up to you.
