I love the energy of this track and Ed Lays drumming.
My transcription is mainly based on the track but influenced by a number of live performances like this one and this one. I’ve written it for three toms, but feel free to adapt based on your set up.
A few pointers:
Pay attention to the repeats!
For the instrumental and chorus grooves, focus on the driving four-on-the-floor pattern and off beat hi-hats. Only add in the toms (e.g. bar 22) once you’re comfortable with the rest of it. Ed plays all of the toms in these sections with his right hand, which means the hi-hat on the 2+ of bar 22 etc would be played with the left hand. Play round with it and find what works for you!
You have a lot of room to ad lib throughout the song. So don’t be constrained by the transcription — it is just an interpretation! Use the transcription as a guide.
